Just before Christmas 2008 the government announced the purchase of St James Station from the Stevenson family. This acquisition allows us opportunities to access this property which we have never done before. In September this year Malcolm met with the DoC area manager, did a flyover of part of the property and out to the Waiau River on a second track by 4WD. NZ Adventures is currently applying for a concession which will allow us access to this new Conservation Park. St James Station offers stunning mountain scenery opportunities in valleys that have not previously been open to the public. The land is not due to be de-stocked until July 2010 and we are hoping that we will be able to offer tours across this property after that date as part of our West Coast Heritage tour and also offer shorter tours which will encompass this and part of Molesworth Station. We will be offering these tours from October to May each year. |
